Abdullah's first day at school on 3 Jan 2007

Suffice to say that I had butterflies in my stomach, couldn't eat and sleep well on the days leading to my son's first day at school.

My heart beats faster than usual these days because I have to ensure he has breakfast, lunch, ample rest and only simple morning activities before going to school. I am more careful about timing lest he misses the school bus. Life is different now that he is about 4.5 hours away from home Monday to Friday.
